The Highgrade-representation in the Ruhr, Markus Sur, graces the label
with another great release. Three tracks stitched together by the DJ and
producer from Essen. All the tracks feature characteristically sparse vocals,
some a little nicer than the others. In “Visions” we’re greeted with an almost
spooky mood. Mosquitoes seem to buzz through the hot summer night,
while a haunting voice send us urgent and mysterious messages. Sounds like
voodoo!
Similarly deeply woven is “Passos”. This time, a Spanish woman whispers
sweet promises to the beat of bongos and soft buzzing bass.
“Rag-Man” counters in the deeper areas. Creating here too an immediate
Southern State feeling. Grilling, harmonicas and a density that you can
almost smell in the warm sweet air, all combined with a driving groove.
