after he won last years german popstars award, marc schneider comes around with a new 12er on hamburg based label was not was called sniper ep.the a side starts like a shot, to be thinking not to arrest somebody.groovy percussions, claps and hihats open the round dance, mysterious strings and a cryptic nice little melodie rounding this tune.when you get to the part of having to turn the record over you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find.another assassin, hell yeah, hard pumpin' basskicks, a dusky bassline, dark vocal snippets and psycho-soundscapes stand for for their own, party hard! The sniper ep is an unusual record, clever mixture of banging minimal sound and ravey structures, at the end there won't be survivors, only shoot dancers.for more details please ask your local sales man:-).

good minimal funkyness will play it

FAITH MAG (UK)

Hamburg based Marc Schneider is one of the bosses at hamburg based Word and Sound distribution. Releasing on Word and Sounds own label Was Not Was, "Sniper King" is a dubby rolling groove with claps, crunchy percussion and some trippy heady candy xylophone rhythms. This has a punchy yet lazy feel and conjured up the image of MAW doing minimal!

Sasse (Moodmusic)

mr world is coming on strong, funny as hell presstext.. great ep from one of the most underrated djs of germany, really into both sides and will play this to death. give me more !!

Karotte

Wow herr schneider. spielt die a-seite laut und in voller länge und zur richtigen zeit, dann geht da alles. einer der hits des wochenendes bei mir gewesen. tolle platte!!! hamburg rocks!!!

James Flavour (Dirt Crew)

marc schneider is doing a great job here. like both sides. the moodyman from hamburg!

IDJ Magazine

Wasnotwas is fast becoming another key player in Hamburg?s steadily emerging scene, with their recent releases offering a refreshingly organic, house-based slant on minimal beats. Both tracks here throw together straggling beats and ravey cadences with reckless flair, and manage to remain intriguingly unpredictable throughout. Ideal for more adventurous moments in your set.

I'll be playing the aside 100% Great work from Mr.Schneider... keep'em coming!

Jeff Milligan (Revolver)

reminds me of something... hmm, dunno what but something from 92' or blah blah blah... anyhow, the ending goes all mad ravey and so does the audience. ;)

John Tejada (Palette)

the record is fucking awesome. i love both sides. my favorite record at the moment : ) it has a really nice combo of all the records we are always geeking out about.

stefan riesen/ floppy funk

not only a very nice guy at wordandsound and a real music lover, but also an excellent producer: marc schneider! wicked release!

Dinky (Horizontal)

great work from mr. schneider. very big tune, quite original as well. love both sides.

Sniper Heat---This record is what so many other records of the moment should be. Full of thick beats, energy, soul, future, and originality even though there is also a bit of old school flavor there. Nice build up to the main part of the song with crazy noises that are perfect for freaking out the floor, and I know this one works because I have a played it out a couple of times already. Stripped down and groovy without following any minimal trends make this track the perfect sound for me to play. Sniper King---Another crazy and original track! Marc Schneider has succeeded in making this track weird and freaky without losing any of the dance floor functionality which is quite an achievement. As on the flip side the full, warm, and slightly rough production really makes this one stand out from the ultra clinical and too clean production on 99% of other records. I thought the dissonance of the chords was off at first but after a listen or two I appreciate how it fades and mutates giving vibrant life to this track. Solid record, full chart and club support!

I can see this sounding great out in the clubs... I like the 'sniper king' the best of the two... I know that when the crazy synth lines come in people are going to freak out.

Giles Smith - DJ Mag (UK)

along with the samim and guido schneider my other favourite track from the package...love the crunchy swing of the a side.

DE BUG (GER)

Was für Beats. Grandios. Slammer.
