This release presents us three luscious tracks from our meandering-funk
supergroup Pikaya. It´s their second record for the Meander imprint and it´s
pretty a remarkable one. After their last output with the name Jive and a recent
split release for Grubenstrasse Zuerich, now they strongly back with crafty
signals & grooves, luscious melodies, warm but clear rhythmic beats finalised
with a solid dash of acid. This music from our duo has a high standart in sound
development, it´s their mosts straight production to date, and comes salted with
raw analog aestetics.
Levante is a dub driven odyssey to the space. It shows Pikaya´s musical ability
to form deep soundscapeish dance compositions. Varying drum patterns and
room engaging beatstructures snapping every attention, emphasized by a
cavernous bass theme.
The flipside starts with Liquid Loop, a quirly anthem of analog inventions and
melodic tone shiftings. Everything touched with irresistible micro house
atmospheres and melodies. Warm cords and sharp drums eventually leading into
fuzzy acidic outerworlds.
To underline the statement, the third tune Department jumps in with a robust
kickdrum. Atonal swing excursions and a smack synthesizer mood complete this
veritable cinematic and vital record.
