The My Favorite Robot label welcomes back Toronto house and techno hero Kenny Glasgow, with a stunning new single featuring a superb remix package...
Kenny Glasgow has been making music, DJ’ing and running parties for almost as long as house music has been in existence, from the back streets of Toronto to his worldwide travels playing alongside the likes of Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Green Velvet, Hell, Sven Vath, Dave Clark and Laurent Garnier, Glasgow has always given his all to his passion for electronic music. His 2009 debut album was hugely well received and since then he has continued to create exciting and original cuts for his singles and remixes for the My Favorite Robot label.
Glasgow’s latest outing is entitled ‘Final Frontier’ and takes the listener on a journey into the outer realms of electronica as only Kenny can. Warm and hypnotic, it has a timeless quality, part old school influence and part contemporary and highly unique. Kenny’s ability to produce rich, almost cinematic records is once again put on show, he is quite simply a class act and ‘Final Frontier’ stands up there with his best.
First of the remixes comes from Moodmusic head honcho Sasse who shows immense respect for Kenny’s original production, keeping much of the depth of character that makes ‘Final Frontier’ so special but adding his own twist and beefing up the drums to create a surefire quality house floorfiller.
Next up we have fellow Canadian superhero James Teej, who takes his remix toolbox to work and produces a deep and pulsating version that locks straight into the groove. Teej has his debut album due on Rekids in the coming months and it’s evident why his production talents are in such demand from this understated and brilliant mix. Rolling, heads down techno/house fusion at its best.
Finally we have label bosses Jared and Voytek AKA My Favorite Robot who take a distinct deep house approach turning out a beautiful piece of classic and uplifting house music weaving Kenny’s old school sounds with their own rich tapestry of production. This is probably one of the best MFR productions to date and is a real highlight on this already highly impressive package.
My Favorite Robot is a label that is rapidly maturing into one of the finest purveyors of quality electronic music out there and with records like this their reputation is just going to get stronger and stronger.
