Hot on the heels of its first release, mobilee’s new sublabel LEENA returns with another 12-inch single designed to thrill. Berlin’s Holger Zilske launched LEENA with two creepy-crawly tracks; now Catz n’ Dogz rain down upon us with animal intensity. You already know Catz n’ Dogz as 3 Channels— aka Szczecin, Poland’s Grzegorz Demiañczuk and Wojciech Tarañczuk—with releases on Trapez, Trenton, Crosstown Rebels and most recently, Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird label. For their first release as Catz n’ Dogz, they continue their tradition of combining minimalist structures with full-bore sound design, turning out a twisted double A-side single. “Searching” wastes no time looking for its groove: it digs in right away with a bottom-heavy bounce that rolls unstoppably through thick and thin. In keeping with its title, it’s something of a two-part proposition. The first half is all about pushing forward, ducking distraction, and maintaining speed as stray noises and schizoid samples blast from every angle. The second half is all about revelation, in the form of a deep, pumping synth pattern that cuts through the darkness like a beacon drawing the faithful back to Detroit. From here on out, intrepid explorers, we are at home in the temple of house music. The search concluded, all that’s left to do is celebrate, long and loud, hands held aloft by a single string note that threads all the way back to disco’s heyday. Halle-fuckin’-lujah. “A Tribute to Kolfun” is a more cryptic affair. Beginning with a demure keyboard arpeggio draped in delay, it builds slowly, spinning in the wind like a pinwheel, twisting between minor and major keys. Dancefloors these days are full of anthemic melodies, but this one is different. It doesn’t force its emotions upon you, it just filters and amplifies your state of mind. Two and a half minutes in: a subtle bloom of color. Three minutes: a burst of movement in the shadows. Four and a half minutes: a rush of blood to the head and the heart, and allhell breaks loose—except hell's touch was never so tender. Oscillators whirl, bright chords hail down, and everything is suffused in brilliance. You'd be hard pressed to find a tune at once so tough and so tender. This one will go toe to toe with house music's biggest, baddest, most emotive tunes for a long time to come. Whoever Kulfon is, he must be proud.

Bigshot Mag (USA)

Following up after a hot debut from this Mobilee sub-label, this popular Polish producer has had numerous gems on such labels as Crosstown Rebels, Trapez and Trenton. Wasting no time, this EP bursts straight into a bottom-heavy bouncing groove, with schizoid noises, sharp tones and disco distractions. The backside cut takes a more key stab method, with delayed arpeggios, warm pads and bright chords. The A cut rules, while the rear only does the job. Praxis

C .Rock

both sides are massive, very nice start (although it's no.2 already). b-side rocks even more! in my set!

Chris Duckenfield

Straight up rude, the B side here eats a hearty meal of minimal ingredients then belches out a winning gaseous blast. Love this

Dave Ellesmere (Intacto)

I've always liked 3 channels and I love this release. a tribute to kulfon: reminds me a little of some matthew johnson but thats ok its a super smooth main riff, then when the stabs kick in i can see dancefloor mayhem. i'll defnitely be playing this !!!! searching: much deeper and dubbier .... this is really my kind of track .. love the build up .... this is a great track ..very useful .... i'll play it and chart it !!! i like the way Leena is going already. top notch releases so far....!!!!!

Absolutely loving this!...The 3 Channel boys show us what they are made of here on Mobilee's new imprint Leena!. A deep hypnotic journey that turns into a mental floor blaster. Sure to do maximum damage ;-)"”
