Love the Mountain People records - The new one is amazing!

One of my favourite labels, and consistently strong releases, that all have longetivity. Yet another deep housey groover that rocks.

I'll play both sides, super nice tracks!

The Mountain People (Serafin and Andre Rozzo) can do no wrong in my book. Within their first 5 releases they have laid down some of the freshest and rawest shit that I have heard in so long. The A side is a dubby, deep as you like, percussive groove focussed on clanking, natural percussion that builds with subby bassline and simple yet oh so effective technique. Bound to be huge with the usual suspects. On the flip they go for a slightly more Housey take with yet still utilising their trademark percussive sound and subby groove. Both sides are absolute killers in my book and you need this record!

Jimpster (Freerange)

I’ve got an unhealthy obsession with what these guys are doing anyway but this new one only reinforces it! In the short time that Mountain People has existed they’ve managed to establish themselves firmly as one of the best deep house/techno labels around. Sheer quality on each release. The loping funk of the A side track will work great in the mix. Love the live bongo sounds. And when the pad drops...... Bliss!!! B side is killer too.

Mathias Kaden (Vakant)

again a beautiful release from the mountain guys..... the songs are so into the groove and so timeless....amazing!!! i really love to play it in my sets..... note 1

Damn straight, Mountain People keep it rolling as an alpine stream and as subtly freaky as a head spinning from all that thin air. A-side's a deep, conga-accented people-mover that just goes and goes and goes; B-side is even deeper and darker, and just maybe even groovier. Brilliant.

Ricardo Villalobos (Playhouse)

100 punkte!

These guys are called the Mountain People. And their label is called the Mountain People. And their tracks are mostly called ‘Mountain 001-005’. That's a lot of mountains. On the lowlands the duo are also known as Serafin and Rozzo, two Swiss producers who've risen to prominence in the last year. Theirs is an old fashioned success story: they released some EPs that people liked, and when that worked, they released a few more. If you've been following them to date, then you'll be glad to hear that the latest sermon from the mount (sorry) is yet another interesting twist on the duo's psychedelic deep house sound. First up is ‘Mountain 005.1’, a hypnotic and percussive piece of house that's built around a few submerged melodies and a lot of reverb. If the best dance tracks are the ones that can make what's ostensibly a loop seem like a set of sounds you want to hear for minutes on end, then this is fit to stand with them. This isn't just music to dance to, it's music to bask in. On the flipside ‘Mountain 005.2’ is a little more evocative of past Mountain breezes like ‘The Move’, with keyboard tones that suggest morning nightclubbing slowly morphing and growing over Kerri Chandler style rhythms. There's no doubt that some may find this European take on classic deep house to be heresy, especially when you consider that trance seems to be the added ingredient. But given how consistently great the results are for Mountain People, most listeners will be glad to be heretics. Just take my shoes off before burning me at the stake. - Ronan Fitzgerald
