An artist who follows up the sounds of Kenny Dixon Jr, aka Moodymann.
Soulful arranged pianos and praising voices that also remember of some
tunes by Motor City Drum Ensemble. The backgroung voice is filled by
people shouting and singing and clapping like gospel singers in the
churches of Detroit. While the singers completly get enthused it rubb
off on you while listening. The piano figure continious encounters this
tune. Sometimes it suddenly breaks off while the ‘main preacher’ still
sings ‘where the rivers flow’. ‘She Is My Joy’ has a more clear beat,
the gospel singers appear again and a black womans voice shouts her holy
sentences into a crowd like in a question-and-answer game.
Mat Chiavroli is THE new Italian artist who found his place at Kinda
Soul Recordings that was raised by KSoul. A label that also released
tunes by Jus Ed, Rick Wade, Kassem Mosse, Lady Blacktronika and KSoul
himself. Mat steps into their shoes with KindaSoul’s seventh release and
he really seems to suceed. Highly recommended.
