Just on point with the 50th release highgrade‘s permanent staff presents itself in best shape. The result is a topnotch compilatIon for the first half of 2008 which crowns the label‘s catalogue so far. Highgrades headhoncho Tom Clark starts the circle self-confidently with „nightgods“ - a hypnotic heavyweight of a track, heading with dark vocals and precise synthlines straight forward to the dancefloor. With „quite“ Highgrade‘s alpha-team Format:B is keeping the energy level high by combining a pushing sub-bassline with dubby offbeat organs while they get their trademark tomsounds grooving like there‘s no tomorrow! The tracks „true lies“ by Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner and „get restless“ by Tom Clark, Daniel Dreier and Jens Bond prove how to get things cracking with well balanced grooves the easy way. Just before Jens Bond drops a percussive masterpiece called „wasted“ and Sven Brede comes along with „anic“ which starts with a funk dry as a bone just before the track get‘s lifted up by shimmering chords and some engrossed melodies. Highgrade-veteran Todd Bodine let‘s the bongos roll and the synthlines freak out with „too late“ untill Phage & Daniel Dreier with „korgi morgi“ once again set a monument for their inimitably dodgy grooves. Finishing this fine bunch of tracks - which is in the truest sense of the word: high grade! So let‘s go for the next 50!
