Hot on the heels of acclaimed releases for Four:Twenty, Dessous, Sonar Kollektiv, Buzzin’ Fly and his own Diynamic usic, house producer du jour Mladen Solomun returns with his second stunning single for Dessous after the sublime ‘Sambada EP’. ‘Woodstep’ is a percussive trip to the heart of house, a tech-tinged groove peppered with strange tribal rhythms, evoking a midnight trek into the sultry tropical rainforest. On the fl ip, ‘No Comment’, an analogue bubblebath of a bassline propels a techier cut, where Detroit washes do battle with stepping keys, a crisp beat and belches of hissing smoke. Halfway through, a spoken word sample ushers in lush echoic piano chords, taking the track to the next level. Combining the heavily rhythmic bustle of classic house with the darker touch of techno in his own idiosyncratic and dancefl oor-captivating way, Solomun once agains shows why he’s rapidly becoming one of the most in-demand producers in the game.
