The disposable needs to be disposed. Moving away from the general DJ rule, Nomumbah is here to be the opposite of disposable. Search for music with loads of references, with enfaces on electronic, Brazilian instrumental and international soul music. Nomumbah was conceived by experiment musicians - Ale Reis, André Torquato and Rafael Moraes – The join was hired by a Record label called Yoruba Records, and it is about to release an album. Together because of the same goals, those musical references, they join their experiences to the time each of them has expend with other musicians like: Paula Lima, Elza Soares, Claudio Zolli, Patricia Marx, etc... What enables them to go from Latin rhythms to African rhythms as well as jazz, soul and mainly Brazilian music in its various sub-genres. Most of all the contemporary branch, inspired by the broad improvisation freedom typical of Hermeto Paschoal and César Camargo Mariano. These guys are out there searching for partners who share their musical horizons and ideas as DJs (Rafael e Alê), when paying out at night clubs and parties or as studio producers, or even when they are playing as an instrumental band with Ale Reis in the control board, Andre Torquato on guitar and keys and Rafael Moraes on percussions and organic things.. Looks like they have found each other at last.Known for their rendition of Lo Borges' Tudo Que Voce Podia Ser, Nomumbah bridges jazzy elements, broken rhythms, latin overtones and deep house on their debut album. Hailing from Sao Paulo, this three piece ensemble have received praise from the likes of Jazzanova among others. Maintaining the essence of Brazil’s cultural beauty, Nomumbah have captured what few locals have managed to accomplish with electronic music.
The debut album “Love moves”, their latest remix for Osunlade “Casablanca Soul” and remake of Amanita’s ‘’Just like a Rainbow’’ for Jazzanova’s Sonar Kollektiv.were charted top sellers over weeks and charted by guys like Louie Vega, Jazzanova or Gilles Peterson. More news coming soon….
