Francesco Baudazzi, aka Obtane, was born 27 years ago in La Spezia, a city of North Italy. When his ears began to capture audio signals, he followed the latest italodisco breaths and early Chicago house like a dog follows its tail, discovering old jewels like Kraftwerk,Jean-Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream discographies. Then the start of djing, in 1994, playing minimal and dub techno like Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, loving cold swedish techno (first of all Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer and Thomas Krome) but also robotic and dark electro (from Drexciya and Mr. Velcro Fastener to italian pioneers of Nature Records). At the end of 2000, when intelligent techno wasn’t so interesting anymore for him, he twisted into the new school of minimalism, with heavy support of Perlon and M_nus. At the end of 2005, he is co-founder, with the djs/producers Davide Calì and Max Guerrero, of the label Equilibria Records. In december 2006 he had his debut as producer on Equilibria with the “Cosmic Crossdresser” release, featuring also two reinterpretations of the M_nus artists Tractile and getting a positive feedback from the epic german magazine De:Bug. In the spring of 2007 he lefts Equilibria to be more focused on his own productions and, in January 2008, he founds with his new partner Enrico Viti the label Zooloft, releasing glitch, bleep and weird minimal on 10” limited edition vinyls.With his new label project he got positive feedbacks from people like Andre Crom, Arnaud Le Texier. Frankie, Mossa, Matt Tolfrey, Todd Sines and the first release is supported by Magda and Troy Pierce.
Obtane also got an upcoming release on Left Of Centre, the MarcAshken own label, for spring 2008.
