James Duncan was born in Toronto, Canada and has been based mainly in New York City. His releases and remixes have appeared on his own label Le Systeme, Dance Tracks sub-label Traxxx and Daniel Lui's Chair Recordings.As a musician and trumpet player himself, James has featured on releases by Metro Area and Morgan Geist, with DJ Romain (on the Nu Faze and Metro Trax labels) and on Morgan Geist's remix of The Rapture's 'House of Jealous Lovers' on DFA. He has also made occasional live appearances with Metro Area.
Outside of the dance music world, James has played with Aarktica, Glenn Branca, Brookyn-based chamber pop ensemble The Silent League and IZITITIZ, an improvisation collective led by veteran NYC bassist Matt Heyner of No Neck Blues Band.
