Rafael Gómez was born in 1976 in a small village near Frankfurt. Playing the piano in younger days brought out his musical
interest very soon. The piano associated with a bassguitar and a C64/Amiga 500 with Octalyzer that had been the first tools
he started to make music with at the age of 15. After having played in a rockband he decided to move to Cologne - one of the
centers attracting devotees of electronic music. While living in this city that is also entitled to be the origin of minimal,
he got deeper and deeper into electronic music and minimal techno. Due to this diverse musical skills he..s a composer and
producer who covers several styles ranging from rock, downtempo electronica to tech-house and minimal techno. After having
played lots of liveacts in Cologne finally in 2001 Rafael released his first single on Substatic followed by some others on
Treibstoff. So not only Rafael is doubtlessly a veteran from the Cologne Scene but also he played a leading role concerning
the launch of the very selected label Substatic alongside with Mia and Falko Brocksieper. Instantly his cult-release
"resurrect" substaic003 forged ahead and was a major step in the label’s rise taking the label and Rafael to the front ranks
of this new Cologne Sound which has been so much spoken about. His latest records can be found on Buenaonda Records,
Paris MICROSCAPES Vol.I and Columbia Techsound, Vekton Music and Drag&Drop.
