Besides her collaboration with Audiofly (Sleeper Thief), Miss Jools is well known DJ figure on the underground scene. In the last years she has worked on material for well known labels like Mobilee. Here is her selection for "3 Things People Play":
Nick Sole "Simple Things" [Mojuba Records]
This is one of my favourite releases on the label. I have been a fan of Mojuba records since its first release in 2005 and for me is one of the best Deep House imprints to come out of Berlin. Simple things are sometimes the most satisfying and this track is of no exception. This is a sophisticated deep moody groover, simple yet effective chord stab and if the bass line alone does not lock you into to this hypnotic groove, then maybe you are sleeping ;)
Heaven and Earth "Prescription Ep" [Running Back]
I’m really happy this classic 12” has been reissued. Rob, Zaki and Luke (Heaven and Earth), fellow Londoners and friends, produced two amazing tracks back in 1995, then snapped up by Prescription Records, one of my all time loved Chicago House Labels from the 90’s. For those who were not around back then or simply missed it the first time, they have been given a second chance to add this worthy classic to their vinyl collections courtesy of Gerd Janson’s fantastic Running Back label, another favourite of mine, which has given this EP a well deserved new lease of life.
Brothers Vibe "Wave Files 6" [Som Underground]
I had to include a Brothers Vibe release although it was a hard choice because there are so many productions and remixes of Brothers Vibe that I play constantly. ‘Ehi’ is my favourite cut here. I’m a sucker for solid dubbed out percussive grooves that actually really need little explaining, because they do their explaining on the dancefloor.
