Being a DJ for over 18 years now Andre Lodemann started to produce music in 2001. His output includes original productions and remixes on the likes of Moods n Grooves, Simple Records, Fine Art, Room with a View, Z Records, Freerange etc. Most recently he founded his own label Best Works Records together with an old college friend Daniel Best, a well known music-promoter and impressario from Berlin. Andre's latest release is "The Light" on Best Works. Here is his selection for "3 Things People Play"
Ame "Rrose Sélavy" [Innervisions]
Both tracks on this 12" are outstanding for me. Ame managed to create a very gloomy atmosphere while playing with feelings like anguish, anger and pain. the dramaturgical progression is absolutely stirring. perfect to live out your aggression.
Floating Points "Peoples Potential" [Eglo]
Two very different tracks on this release. On "Peoples Potential" producers name is program. It´s a slow builder with floating soundscapes and brain burning harmonies.
"Shark Chase" combines a somehow jazzy feeling with a stomping beat and a bassline which turns into an ugly beast from wave to wave.
Wbeeza "City Shuffle EP" [Third Ear]
4 tracks - all good. The A-side fits perfect in my bag. "Candle Groove" is the right one for a warm up set or home listening while "A 116" catches on with a hypnotic bassline and glaring usage of hihats. killer on the dancefloor!
