THIS WEEK IN BASS - WEEK 9

Superdefekt's Roundup of the last weeks entries in Dubstep, Halfstep, Nustep & UK Garage

-
Superdefekt aka sdfkt. aka Tim Lorenz (co)hostes the famous MFOC (sunday) nights at Hamburgs finest micro club “Golden Pudel”. Clubbing since 1987 as well as Djing since 1993 he has a knowledge of about 20 years of all kinds of electronic music with a special interest in all things breakbeat, be it electro, electronica, drum’n'bass, dubstep or Bass Music.

Below you may find his recommended releases of WEEK 9:

          Neon Jung - Delirium Tremens - Magic Wire Recordings - Magic04 - 27-02-2012

Classy release on Lone‘s label combining aspects of detroit techno, new york garage house and bass music to surprising effect. Big one, for sure. And on the flip Nathan Fake comes up with an electronica version which is as beautiful as the original. Tipped.

       Ministre X - Subtitle Of Life - ClekClekBoom Recordings - CCB003 - 27-02-2012

Two delicate tracks from the periphery of bass music and R‘n‘B. Chart music for a better world, for sure, especially the tear jerking classiness of the dreamy Just To Please Ya track.

      Bwana - Over & Done EP - Infinite Machine - IM007D - 27-02-2012

Three beautiful bass music miniatures by Bwana, sounding like Burial in a future garage disguise. Remixes come courtesy of the mighty XI, going for an abstracted slow motion garage groove, Jack Dixon, keeping an eye on the dancefloor, and Sibian & Faun, diving deep into the avantgarde R‘nB territory.

     Royal T feat. Various Artists - 1Up Or Shatap EP - No Hats No Hoods - NHNH008 - 27-02-2012

Big remix package of Royal T‘s next level grime tracks. We have the likes of martin Kemp with his avantgarde garage rhythms, Rockz riding on the grime tip, J Beatz going for a bass-hypnotic halfstep journey or Bok Bok in a grimelectro mood. All big ones, all A class.

     Foxx - Sorrows EP - L2s Recordings - L2S072 - 27-02-2012

Close your eyes and imagine Burial in a dreamy pop mood, then add some detroitian techno house grooves to it and also a little bit of early nineties garage house feel and you get the picture, how these three beautiful tracks may sound. Good stuff.

    Cardopusher - Everybody / Guava Blossom - DVA Music - DVA010 - 27-02-2012

Everybody goes for a hypernervous plastic electro feel whereas Guava Blossom on the flip is more like a grime infused latin house track from the future. Music on a next level tip, working on the edge of genres without falling in one or the other category.

     KingThing - Miraculeux - Furioso - FUR12 - 28-02-2012

Crossing subtle wobbling dubstep bass with future garagey rhythm works King Thing come up with a track which is as delicate as it is rough around the edges. The Kid Chameleon remix on the other hand emphasizes the harder aspects of the track while at the same time adding a fair amount of atmospheric pad sounds, this way getting to an equally hybrid result.
