Both of these guys had a splendid 2009. Tim with his releases on Dirtybird and Emerson providing a contribution to Get Digital, at the end of last Summer. Their initial collaboration came in the form of 'Exercise', which popped up on a compilation from Sven Väth's admired Cocoon label. 'Make Me' is driven by crisp and tight beats that one would expect from these two producers, before tumbling into a 1920's speakeasy jazz drum solo. A flurry of vocals shoo off the drummers as the beats takeover again with an intensified energy. After all that dancing, you will surely need some foot treatment. That is where 'Nail Clipper' takes over. A sonic pedicure, to easy your tired toes? Not quite. This one contains even more energy than the first with a stepping break that won’t in a million years give comfort to sore feet. When two overqualified producers team up, one always wonders: Will the skills cancel each other? Can their workflow translate into a superlative soundscape, or just a collection of sounds? Luckily these two artists walk that fine line making them a compatible and capable pair to create two unique dance floor weapons. http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/19958 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/19958 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Fritz Kalkbrenner - The Dead End EP - Suol (suol014-6) After the huge success of his first single “Wingman EP“ on Suol, Fritz Kalkbrenner is now back with yet another stunning 3 tracker EP by the name of “The Dead End“. On A1 we find the original version of „Last Call“. The deepness from second 1 struck us right away on this one. As usual, Fritz’s harmonic skills and use of melody is outstanding. “Last Call“ is already supported by his berlin mate Sascha Funke. Philadelphia on B1 shows the rave background of Berlins child. Dubby changes and always keeping an eye on the groove. Arranged to hit the peak at any second, this is not the track you wanna play for your toilet run. The title track “Dead End“ on B2 features his unique vocals.. taking you smoothly on a emotional ride! This is definately the track you wanna hear while driving through the night or just dancing it away.. Guitar hits, bells and melodic e-drums make this production one of a kind.. not to mention the lyrics which will burn right into your heart, soul and mind! Fritz Kalkbrenner at his best... again! http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20753 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20753 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Humate - Choose Life 2010 - Superstition Records (2842_9) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20811 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20811 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Johnjon - Sink Twice EP - Wazi Wazi (WW002WAS) Wazi Wazi 002 presents John Muder aka Johnjon (from Chopstick &Johnjon /Penner & Muder fame) in late night house mode. The opener „Who´s That“ combines cut-up female vocals and a reduced yet effective arrangement to create a hypnotic vibe, perfect for introducing the world to the deeper side of this prolific Berlin producer. „Sink Twice“ keeps the pace moderate with funky sprinkling jazzy keystabs around a bed of afro-influenced percussion and a steady low-end. Last but not least, „Rapture Of The Deep“ takes us on a stroll into super doped up sub 120 deep house of the highest order, reminiscing of early NYC house Nu Groove style. Raw but with a right touch of soul this is a fine closing track for an excellent EP. http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20813 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20813 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Donnacha Costello - Before We Say Goodbye E.P. - Poker Flat Recordings (PFRLP25D)   http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21057 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21057 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Various Artists - Perception - Orps (orps012) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21098 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21098 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Richard Dinsdale - Somatic Industrial EP - LS City Records (LSCR002) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21101 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21101 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 5 Points Gang - Faraway - Stupendous Music (STUN-03) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21177 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21177 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Peter Corvaia - She Left Herself - Biatch Corp (biatch005) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21191 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21191 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Husky - Keep It Original - Guesthouse Music (GMD45) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21099 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21099 Tue, 09 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Various Artists - Workparty One - Keinemusik (KM005) There are three reasons to celebrate. First: This is Keinemusik #5 – the first little jubilee in their string of releases. Second: When this release hits the street, Keinemusik will be one year old – again, a little jubilee. Third: will become more clear, when this disc is spinning in a club. This fifth release on Keinemusik is labelled Workparty for a reason. Without some bead of sweat when stamping the record sleeves, when rushing over to supply several record stores, when taking care of updating the blog or when organizing parties, Keinemusik wouldn’t be where it is today – a label with a steady output that found its place in the Berlin Technoscene. Workparty One is a joint venture of all Keinemusik-producers. According to the occasion, it will be released as a special package inclunding a T-Shirt und a tote bag, along the regular run. And that, of course, could make a great present if there’s someone else celebrating an anniversary.   A1: Rampa – Falk “Falk” starts out to be an unmistakable imperative for some hands-up-animation. The beatframe is about to push the floor to a tightness that lets you wonder, whether the sounds of rapture are coming from a crowd rubbing each other up or actually from the tune. To make that clear: “Uuh” and “Yeah” are a couple of samples leading the way to the most soulful break you heard in months. A break that will crumble down to explicit straightness and unfussy efficiency again. Definitely a big one.   A2: David Mayer – Ball Davids first vinylrelease on Keinemusik is his most conclusive consolidation of everything, he set up with his previous works on the “Nacktenordner” EP. It’s a blend of massively pumping grooves and engine room-acoustics with a smart kickdrumdesign and a dramatic composition that builds up on reduction but nevertheless is able to incorporate unexpected details.   B1: &ME – Youth &ME comes up with a track that might be seen as the advanced continuation of his world-, or lets say floorformula, that already caused quite a stir when he released “F.I.R.”. “Youth” elevates from a clever directed buildup, modulates vocalsamples to concrete hooklines, piles layers of deep sexappeal over another and reveals by means of an almost song-like fetish for structure this absolutely evident, yet subtly and sophisticatedly constructed peaktime-smasher.   B2: Adam Port – No Pain Around the vocaltracks of a song by Leipzig based band Shandy Mandies, an aesthetic is being built that could be seen as an antithesis to the sound Adam Port became known for. “No Pain” doesn’t find its deepness in the polyrhythmic patterns of Tribalhouse-standards, but in more remote interspaces, in which Port fleshes out the backbone of a slowly rising groovebastard to a compelling forerunner of New Wav-ish Shoegaze-Techno http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21288 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21288 Tue, 09 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Alessio Caforio - Return EP - DeepClass Records (DCREC052) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21290 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21290 Tue, 09 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Santiago Salazar - Your Club Went Hollywood - Wallshaker Music (WMAC32) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21296 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21296 Tue, 09 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Adultnapper - Monitor - Lion1Music (L1M012) Adultnapper's original mix of "Monitor" is a minimalist, atmospheric house outing with warm, evocative piano chords. Percussive and synth soundscapes wash over the groove adding a stylish textural dynamic. Conversely, MKL Vs BGSS (members of the group Brazillian Girls) step onto the scene with a live, organic funkafied jam that steps skillfully through afrobeat and retro disco/funk territory without missing a beat. http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21304 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/21304 Tue, 09 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Tojami Sessions - Jazzbox - Plastic City. He has been composing and producing electronic music since 1996, not only releasing on his own label “7Noise” but more importantly also being licensed for various major compilations. Beatport voted his track “Evolve” as the best minimal track in 2009. Now he is releasing his first tracks on Highgrade records. At first, “Addiction” unspectacularly plods on towards House heaven, but then the sparse vocals and timeless Organ sounds give you a warm and soft electro shock. The first track on the B side “The Gull” shows off Prompt’s talents as a composer. A very discreet melody blankets the straight beat, taking away the coldness of the bass. A beautiful dream track that should never really end. “Mechanic” brings it home and is right in your face, a journey into minimal techno country, where you meet the sound ghosts that Prompt has summoned. A single drum beat here, a voice there and a now and again a sound shred that are all meticulously arranged to make the perfect atmosphere. The digital bonus track “Blue Light” is minimal at its best, warm, funky and functional. http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/18642 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/18642 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Xinobi - Day Off - Work It Baby (WIB022) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/19416 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/19416 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Gurtz - All The Things EP - Einmaleins Musik (Einmaleins052) Gurtz is back on Einmaleins. So who else should be more predestined for releasing on International Freakshow than him?! The two tracks NIMA GORJI presents to us on this record define themselves as a crispy, warm and trippy kind of “No-Shit-TechHouse” with a twist! “Sometimes”, the title-track is building up it’s hypnotizing power carefully, bringing the dancers tension to the maximum level! “After Summer” on the flipside shows a proper, strongly & well structured techhouse-beat combined with subtle, deep and warm synth sounds and it’s bassline is playing games with the spooky vocal samples and effects NIMA GORJI uses as perfect as it gets throughout the whole tune http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20211 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20211 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Round Table Knights - Calypso EP - Made to Play (MTP025) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20556 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20556 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Al Zhimer - Duh Eh - OKO Recordings (oko009-8-x) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20659 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20659 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Dr. Kucho! - Funkatron - U-Boot (UBT006D) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20673 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20673 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 The Brown Acid - Bastard Kids - East Records (541416503412D) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20676 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20676 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Eva Be - New Crack EP - Best Works Records (BWR006) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20728 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20728 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Shetland - Excess - Apnea (APNEA028) n/a http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20730 whatpeopleplay.com, people@whatpeopleplay.com http://www.whatpeopleplay.com/albumdetails/null/id/20730 Mon, 08 Mar 2010 00:00:00 +0100
