On ‘Cosmic Microwave Background’ AnD put their full scope to work. The result was a record that fidgeted restlessly between a bleeding dancefloor and more airy machinist musings. But even suspended somewhere deep in the voids of space, the duo’s industrial insignia was never too far away. To remix the record, then, it made sense to honour it’s foundations with a carefully curated cast gathered from techno’s outer rim.   For the first of two remix EP’s, Speedy J and Lucy set to work on “The Surface Of Last Scattering” as Zeitgeber, eking out the LP’s eerie closer into a mesmeric techno build full of weird nubs of cosmic fluctuations. Then on the B-side AnD’s typically hard-hitting “Power Spectrum” gets even harder at the hands of Sleeparchive and O/H—the industrious union of David Foster of Huren from the Zhark Recordings camp, and Orphx’s Richard Oddie.   Best known for his first class reductive and hypnotic style, Sleeparchive nevertheless goes in on this, delivering a full-blown audio assault enough to challenge AnD’s abrasive original. O/H then add their loud and hostile take, applying curdling vocals to this pure industrial incarnation. If you thought AnD could’t get any harder, think again.
