British producer Jon Chmielewski is back on Goldmin Music with a very carefully-crafted 2 parts Ep made in Bristol & Birmingham over the past 2 years. Two converging paths his music has branched off toward fueled by his love of variety of electronic styles. First up a release under he monkier Zobol, We released his first « Dystopia « Ep on Goldmin 3 years ago which laid the foundation of his very personal research. The man is back with a further exploration of his first love, electro and the rawer unrefined side of techno that he's been listening to lately. This new one is also a great opportunity to introduce you to Jon's new project « Jonski » where he basically uses the same machines in a different way; driven forward with his ever progressing understanding of disco, italo and all things funky. Without paying too much attention, you will probably notice a huge electro, lo-fi revival these last few years thanks to great represses and djs digging deeper all the time. And like all revivals, some will bring the sound they love to completely new horizons while others will just try to get closer to their heroes and that's probably where Jon makes the difference. He mentions Drexciya, Surgeon, Scape One, Palms Trax, Regis, Terrence Dixon, Tiger & Woods, Actress, Prince, Omar S, ERP, Marco Bernardi as his biggest influences. All these artists definitely paved the way for further generations but Jon got to permeate his style, create an amalgamation of all the music he has absorbed of late. As he says, « Referencing different elements from a variety of styles and exploring the new relationships that these elements create in their new contexts is what I appreciate most when making music and what keeps me focused. This is basically the blueprint I use to approach creating music. » We first heard of his new material mid 2015 through « Orbiter » and « Lo Fi Sunrise ». Instantly amazed by his progression and the quality, sobriety, genuine arrangement although we didn't want to rush his new ep, we both wanted to wait in order to provide a timeless and artist-defining release. Not the work of 2 hectic months in the studio but rather the result of a wide period of time seeking - loving - understanding - digesting new influences. After these years, we picked no less than 9 tracks from him spread over 2 eps. It's ethereal, poetic electronic music which only gets better this time. This guy surely has a lot of talent and there couldn't be a better introduction to his splendidly moving music.
