Low Motion Disco return with their third single for Belgium’s exceptional Eskimo Recordings, continuing the label’s ethos for eclectic and surprising releases, with ‘The Low Murderer Is Out At Night’. With their previous singles ‘Love, Love, Love’ and ‘Things Are Gonna Get Easier’, Swiss act Low Motion Disco have already been proving themselves as fine purveyors of a laidback groove, swathed in shades of funk and soul. The original version of ‘The Low Murderer Is Out At Night’ (to be featured as the final track on the release) starts with a more experimental feel than their previous releases, but when the guitar riff starts to make its presence known we know we’re firmly in LMD territory. Conjuring up a lazy afternoon in the sun, it’s just the pick up you’ll need for the coming winter months. Once more, Low Motion Disco turn to the cream of international artists to provide the remixes. Birmingham (UK) based Mark E delivers a hypnotic remix to grace the A side. Known for his celebrated re-edits of tracks like Womack and Womack's 'Baby I'm Scared of You', Janet Jackson's 'R&B Junkie' or this year's original production 'Slave 1,' for Gerd Janson's Running Back label, Mark E’s influences include Detroit Beatdown to midtempo boogie. Styles prevalent here, through the track’s relentless and captivating groove. Turning to St. Petersburg (Russia) next, Andrei Zakharov, under his AN-2 moniker goes down a more disco-tinged route for his remix. Originally born in the provincial industrial town of Izhevsk, often referred to as Russia’s capital of electronic music, it’s maybe no surprise he found himself on this route. In 2004 he launched his own Theomatic label, but has also released on Faith And Hope, WasNotWas, Mood Music and Polyphonic. His version of ‘The Low Murderer Is Out At Night’ brings some more funk to the proceedings and provides another new shade to this varied release.
