Upon. You Records connecting people. This could be the subtitle of this EP release which is a collaborational effort of Sylvain Soulier and Joseph Thomas Price, both better known under their production monikers Third Son and Darlyn Vlys. Both prolific artists in their own right which have put out solo works on Upon. You Records in the past they've now spent some time in the studio together to serve their first joint venture release the Follow The Machines EP. With the opening tune Orson the pair brings us the heat with a tense, pumping and well stripped down TechHouse vibe, accompanied by loads of futuristic sounds scattered alongside the road before a seductive bass groove, spaced out synth sweeps and the occasional cowbell sequence build up the pressure until a Minimal Techno-infused breakdown paves the way for more tripping madness. Following up is Augustin, a tune from Darlyn Vlys, perfectly in sync with the vibe of its predecessor in terms of sexy grooves and more warm, spaced out synth sounds for a long ride into cosmic voids, passing by iridescent galaxies and mesmerizingly glowing spiral nebulae. In his Zimmer - german for: room Third Son is working on a further variation of their trademark space sound, adding hovering pads and mythical organ motifs to accompany an ever spiralling sawtooth synth modulation to create a well-mysterious and ritual atmosphere for buzzing late night dancefloors. Finally we see Eins Tiefer taking care of Orson remixwise, transforming the original tune into a thrilling, yet abstract TechnoJazz-informed homage to floating MinimalTechno, catering a menu of intricate percussion bits and rising pad sequences alongside a drifty synth motif for an additional energy boost.
