Daniel Ramm and Frank Greiner were born in east germany in the late 70 s. Ever since they conciously listened to music, their main pleasure has been to explore changing musical trends. Emotion has been the transmitter of their cooperation. In the Brandenburg music scene, they were pretty isolated with this attitude.During their youthfull escapades of the 90s their ways kept crossing. Frank Greiner  spend his free time spinning records since 1993. At his first partys he discovered his passion for electronical club music and musically extravaganzas. In 1995 he played his first set in a Club in Frankfurt/ Oder. Daniel Ramm was so intrigued by his independent mix of dub, trip hop, rock and jazz, that after a thrilling conversation a friendship started. Daniel is obsessed by programming music since 1993. With an Amiga500 he got his first opportunities of programming music. From initially nearly too fast melodic trance to a sudden inspiration by slower house music in 1995. Later he did several live sets in Brandenburg region, around Berlin and in his home town, with a simple set-up (amiga/sampler/synth). His training as electronical communication engineer reinforced his interest in the world of soundproduction. In 1999 both of them moved to Berlin. Their love for electronical music, however, soon brought them together again. Pikaya is the result of the musical journey of these young men, who have clipped their heads and machines together since 2000. On the way they constantly grabbled with their respective ideas, but still managed to arrange them. Actually Frank and Daniel are playing the first Pikaya live set in Europe since 2006. They travel with two key and one mixing controller. Connected to a mac and an analog 404 Bass synth, they can change and recreate their set every moment. They say it is fun to improvise while feeling the reactions on the dancefloor. Visiting very different clubs in Italy, France or Switzerland was inspiring for them and gives an endorsement to go on with their slower, deep kind of dance music. If they are not busy with their regular jobs, learning, painting or with their private life, they spend a lot of time in the studio producing new tracks. A new Pikaya record is finished yet. It will be out in summer 2007 on Cadenza Records. Maybe end of june. The name is Kambrium EP and it comes with two long Pikaya tracks. Jedi and Fango were played live in the set before rebuilding and finishing the work in the studio. Maybe that is why it is not only for dancing in a club but also lilt to it while taking a shower at home. They are planning to release an album on Cadenza later. At the moment they make many experiments in finding different sounds and moods of music of this and other kind. So you will find Pikaya releases also on other labels. But please don't miss to see them playing live.
