Multi-instrumentalist, DJ & producer Simbad (aka P.L. Stanislas Renouf) is all about creating great music. His incredibly wide range as a producer spans from big band jazz to heavy Jamaican dancehall reggae via bouncy hip-hop to sick broken-beat & techno. He has to this day worked & played with the likes of Tony Allen, Marque Gilmore, Keziah Jones, Julien Lourau, Ron Trent, Talvin Singh, Bugz in the Attic, Jimpster, Robert Owens just to name a few and is mainly releasing music as Simbad (his other projects & aka's being Heal, Twitch, Beatkeepers, Dreadpoet, Loose Ensemble, Marathon Men, Mowgly & Les Barons). His tracks are always on the top of the top playlists around, from Gilles Peterson to Laurent Garnier to Benji B to Norman Jay. Together with co-worker and friend Fred McQuinn, Simbad released an album in 2005 for Chilli Funk under the name of Marathon Men. So far he has finished material for bagsful of labels, working with various rappers, poets and singers. His solo album is expected to drop late 2007 on Raw Fusion Recordings and various releases and a magnitude of collaborations from the West London scene all the way to the Puerto-Rican one. As an accomplished DJ (was part of the legendary Anokha Sound System) he travels the international scene spinning his blend of Hip-Hop, Deep House, Broken Beats, Disco and Drum & Bass. As the man himself would put it, "it's just quality booty music. I love to spread the vibes and feel the crowd. And a good dancefloor needs always ladies, right?". Also check out his own monthly night of great success, "Je Ne Sais Quoi" together with Fred McQuinn in heart of East London.
