Tim's interest in music starts at a very early age thanks to his very passionnate dad who initiates him to the likes of James Brown, Marvin Gaye or Miles Davis round the tender age of 8. He then goes onto studying guitar and form his first heavy metal band at the age of 14. Later at 16, he will follow up with the study of trumpet and jazz. His first experiences as a dj will start at 18 when he goes onto playing rave parties under the name of dj Trey.In 1999 he becomes Philippe Laugier's assistant at Barclay and gets more involved with electronic music in general. He starts music journalism in french web magazine "Metromag".In 2000, he mixes the compilation Electronik New Flava for Universal, writes for Music.fr (Wagram's site) and becomes resident at the What's up bar on Saturday night for his Soul Shock party. From then on, his career is on the way as he starts djay'ing in various parties like Positiva's Velvet, Massive Attack aftershow, or alongside Charles Schilling at the Discobar parties at the Rex club.In 2001, he meets up with Dimitri and Vigo at Selector and becomes their resident at Selectorama at the Rex Club, Selectorlab at La Fabrique and Politics of Dancing at the Batofar with Ivan Smagghe. He also starts new residencies with Alexkid at the Velvet parties at the Globo and join the Rebirth's team at the partyboat on the Concorde-Atlantique.A very common interest in all weird forms of music, electronic or not, pushes Tim and Dimitri to form the Deem Teem, a crazy fucked up 4 hands duet. Round the same time he also joins Silver Network, Fast Forward and Crack&Speed, Jef.K & Tony Silver's labels in Paris, and starts working with them at the label.Since 2002 he is now resident (with Alexkid and Chloé) of the Ghetto Blaster parties and keeps his residencies at La Fabrique (Silvernite on Friday), The Concorde-Atlantique (Rebirht on Friday), The Wax (Tim Paris' night on Saturday), La Scene (WideOpen and Silver on Saturday). He plays all the major clubs in Paris like The Batofar, The Rex club, The Nouveau Casino, The Studio 287, The Pulp etc .. He's also played the 2001 and 2002 edition of the house festival in Montpellier, Les Plages Sonores and also regulary spins abroad in cities like Singapore, Helsinki, Venise, Johannesbourg, Moscou,Birmingham, Pretoria, London, Cape Town... In 2002, Tim Paris also joins the French booking agency Peace & Respect, is the executive producer and A&R of the Cake & Milk compilation (from the French Cake & milk summer festival) and releases a remix of Femi Kuti ( son of African singer Fela) for Barclay/Universal.His very eclectic tastes in music makes him a very different element on the house map, as he plays a mixture of house, techno, breaks, jazz, hip hop you name it and offers an alternative to the « housemusic by the kilometer » tendency and loves to play contrasts like injecting disco beats in very dark minimal grooves.
