Having recently been voted 'Best DJ in Detroit' by Real Detroit magazine 7 years in a row (2008-2014), No.15 DJ in the US 2 years in a row by the readers of DJ Times and the Red Bull Thre3style champion of Detroit turntablist 'Ghetto Tech' don DJ Godfather now announces a new label project in conjunction with EPM.
Launching with the 'Dirty Rats, Booms N Claps' EP from Godfather himself the first release showcases 'Where The Hoes in this House?' featuring Oktored, 'You So Flexable' featuring the deadmau5 collaborating MC Flipside and the low-slung roller 'Super Swag' featuring Lil Mz 313.
As Godfather himself says. "Getting excited to launch Dirty Knock. With the success we've had with ghetto tech music over the years, and the influence we've had with new genres of music like twerk and trap music, we are ready to bring it all together under one roof!"
'Dirty Knock' has an arsenal of material waiting in the wings (including some hefty collaborations) and Godfather is already unleashing the 'DK' sound at new weekly Detroit club night 'Dirty Knock' every Thursday.
DJ Godfather is considered one of the founding fathers of the genre we now know as Ghetto Tech. With the formation of Twilight 76 with partners DJ Dick and Brian Gillespie, he took his talent and turned it into an entire business creating 3 other labels known as Databass Records, D.E.T. Only and Juke Trax (a label dedicated to the Chicago style of Ghetto House and Juke music). With all 4 record labels combined, Godfather and his partners have released over 250 vinyl releases and mix CD releases, selling over 800,000 units worldwide. Godfather further embraced the digital world with the formation of a distribution arm and 2 online MP3 stores, Secretremixes.com for Mashups and DJ Remixes along with Electrobounce.com for Trap, Ghetto Tech, Electro, Techno and Juke music. As a DJ he plays the deepest Trap, Ghetto Tech and Juke incorporating 'battle' style turntablism in his sets. He has played across the globe many times in cities all over Europe, Asia, Australia, United States, Canada, China, Japan and South America.
