Extended Play is the new Digital label from Belfast's Jet Project (Timmy Stewart & John McIver) and Sheffield's Duckbeats (Chris Duckenfield) The label partners have played music together for over ten years and produced under various acclaimed pseudonyms for much longer. They decided to set up Extended Play as an exclusive outlet for their more dancefloor friendly material, tracks born out of long nights in the DJ Booth, creatively crafted club jams which twist their love of House music into new and innovative shapes. They wanted to make a return to the celebrated days of the extended 12" single mix, custom made for the floor & often the work of the studio engineer who indulged his obsessive love of the groove and sonic manipulation, to craft a 'Dub' which more often than not, outshone the original source music. Extended Play adopts this DIY ethic and approach, transporting it into the digital future.
The label will offer a series of singles with tracks contributed from both artists and mixes from a variety of friends and producers with an ear for diversity and an eye on the dancefloor. Extended Play will certainly not be 'just another digital label'
Timmy and John's Jet project has caught the attention of many of the world's best DJ's over the last few years, they have quickly developed their own sound and continue to deliver hit after mesmerising hit from their Belfast studio, with a slew of killer releases on Silicone Soul's Dark Room Dubs imprint, Steve Lawler's Viva & Berlin’s Get Physical, this new label will provide the perfect platform for even more of their unique brand of house music.
Chris first started producing for WARP records under the RAC moniker in the early 90's, later teaming up with studio engineer Richard Brown to form SWAG who released a bestselling series of 'Version' singles on the Junior Boys Own label. Chris later took over the label management of all their output, releasing two acclaimed LP's and countless singles and remixes for Major label and independent artists and labels as SWAG, as well as launching their cult Primitive label and the celebrated House imprint Odori.
