Reviews: Luke Solomon, Mr. Beatnick, Janis

Deep Chicago House recommended

Luke Solomon feat. Nick Maurer – Re-Flex Part 1 (Classic Music Company)

The Classic Music Company – known for solid floor freak-out tunes for nearly two decades now – brings a package of techy house groovers called “Re-Flex Part 1” that provides remixes of former works from label head Luke Solomon and Nick Maurer. The result is a selection of truly forceful dj weapons with a driving acid roller by Denney, a deeply grooving upwards floater by Borrowed Identity and another acid infected, heavily bouncin’ stomper by Jordan. All in all a crispy crunchy tech house EP with a seriously high hands-up likability. Party on!

Mr. Beatnick – Formed in the Stance (Don’t Be Afraid)

And here is some opulent, electro funkin’ space house from London by Mr Beatnick and his EP “Formed in the Stance” on Don’t Be Afraid. The UK based producer has always been a man for musical versatility with productions and remixes between laid-back deepness, soulful breaks and grooving rough house on labels like Tief Music, Shhhhh, Retreat, Futuristica Music or Photek. In here it’s a bunch of influences from broken beats and garage rhythms to cosmic disco, Chicago house, hip hop and funk merged by Mr. Beatnick to show his approach onto a modern house sound – a house sound that keenly manages to keep deepness, tension and dense atmospheres while staying groovy and motion friendly. Eclectic and lovely!

Janis – You Can’t See Me (Tasteful Nudes)

Grooving modern house is the direction of Janis EP “You Can’t See Me” on the Argot sub-label Tasteful Nudes. With former contributions on House is Ok, Mirau or Smile For A While the producer from Frankfurt a. M. has already set the compass for his complex electronic dance sounds between embracing and uplifting. On “You Can’t See Me” Janis goes on with three differently shaped examples from flickering & pumping club house and lovely summer vibes to atmospheric sunrise wafting – always with elaborated arrangements and organic flow. Warmly recommended!
