Marion Poncet – Chineurs de House: Chasing da Hippo (La Chinerie)

The French dj and producer Roman Poncet should have appeared on the radar of interest of quite some lovers of today’s club techno happenings. Over the past three years he could be found on labels like Figure, Deeply Rooted and under the collabo moniker Advantice together with DJ Deep even on the venerable Tresor Records. Besides his raw and energetic dance productions Roman Poncet is also on the way to present another, warmer and harmony-sunken site of his musical works. Under his new alias Marion Poncet the man from Paris recently debuted with some deep and embracing modern house put together on the freshly launched label La Chinerie, that has been installed in 2014 out of Lyon as a social digging platform for house and techno originally named “Chineurs de House”. On their release efforts of “Chineurs de House: Chasing da Hippo” Roman aka Marion Poncet presents three jazzily swung house grooves built by tricky, organic rhythms and placed between contemplative late-night drifts and moving sunshine music. These are truly beautiful contemporary house tunes.

Simon Ferdinand – Kingsize (Polycarp Records)

Simon Ferdinand brings us the 1st release of his freshly launched imprint Polycarp Records called “Kingsize EP”. The DJ and producer that is based in St. Pauli, Hamburg has already appeared on the electronic landscape with some deep sounds between house and techno on labels like Frank Music, Night Drive Music Landed Records, Rue De Plaisance or Série Limitée spread over the past 3 years. For the opening of his own label tales Simon Ferdinand is up for the warming Funk and moody edges of classical Detroit House as well as for some narratives of the gloomier and more mystical House chapters that are stepping closer to techno. Rounded by a remix of Kann Records’ Map.ache, who joins in with a proggy space house version of the title track “Kingsize” this EP presents a musical mindset that feels the club as well as homegrown listening pleasures. House heads should pay attention!

Phazon – Freqbox (Back to Jack)

Back to Jack is a freshly launched imprint on the way to spread some passion for the oldschool acid sound and corresponding analogue gear that is the Roland 303. On their 1st installment the British DJ and producer Lee Coombs is about to present his new project called Phazon. As a seasoned veteran Lee Coombs is backed by a good many of EPs and album releases since the mid 90’s and also became a pioneer of the upcoming Tech Funk genre in the early noughties accompanied by remixes for such names as New Order, Moby, UNKLE or 2 Many DJ’s. After being part of those contemporaneous events the Phazon project takes him back to his roots, when he started DJing under the influence of London’s acid house parties in the late 80’s. “Freqbox” is taking the spirit of those days with a rounded rawness of sound and offers 3 vintage jackin’ acid house tracks full of grating and twitching 303 acid riffs and straight 909 drumming with classical rim shot action and tom rolls. One for the warehouse lovers!
