Review on Antoni Maiovvi – Adams/Branca 12''

Released on Drift Music

Bristol born and Berlin based producer, dj and film composer Anton Maiof decided in late 2006 to draw himself a new musical identity, which marked the birth of his Antoni Maiovvi moniker. Equipped with that certain italo spirit he began to release quite a bunch of obscure italo sounds, electro and horror disco on labels like Bordello A Parigi, Astro Lab, Tusk Wax, Magic Feet, Seed or his co-owned Giallo Disco imprint, that has been founded by Vercetti Technicolor and him in 2012.
In 2012 Antoni Maiovvi also wrote his first film score for the horror short set called “Yellow” that made it to the official selections of film award events like Frightfest, Sitges 2012, Berlinale and Cannes and presented its OST on 12” format through the Death Waltz Recording Company.
Located somewhere in between those magnitudes of influence Antoni Maiovvi’s sounds tend to combine 80’s aesthetics and cinematic feels with a touch of darkness. On his latest EP called “Adams/Branca 12″“ on Drift Music he delivers two straight and epic floor tunes without much of song structures or listening edges. Tunes that have been properly stripped down for some extended floor scenes and to flow between cosmic disco reminiscences, reduced proggy house music and some hidden desires for dance floor tragedy.
