Review on: Alex Burkat – Trenton Makes the World Takes

Released on Third Ear Recordings

Alex Burkat is back on Third Ear Recordings with his second EP for the London based label. After “285 Kent” in 2014 he now returns with some more atmospheric house and techno hybrids and his “Trenton Makes the World Takes” EP. Hailing from Philadelphia the visual artist and electronic musician had a couple of appearances before on such labels like Mister Saturday Night Records, 100% Silk, Permanent Vacation, The Nite Owl Diner and also saw his track “Shower Scene” featured on John Talabot’s selection for the legendary DJ-Kicks series from !K7.
His current works once more wander on the border of styles between house, techno, disco and electro, between vintage nostalgia and contemporary diversity always equipped with floating pads on the edge of mystical tension and ethereal dreaminess. The range shown is reaching from cosmic italo electro breaks and deep percussive house beams with subtly shimmering vocal pieces to psychedelic space house with oldschoolish grooving synth-bass and Detroit flavoured morning techno. Alex Burkat sounds a bit like he has imagined to compose the right backing for a rework of a retro sci-fi odyssey with extensive space travel scenes in here. Something that sounds good on him!
