Review on: Johannes Klingebiel – Nightlife

Released on Mireia

Drifting into some warming indie house spaces is what the 6th issue of Mireia gently offers. The Hamburg based label founded and run by the dancefloor bliss spreading dj and production trio RSS Disco is up for some new sounds by the Frankfurt born and Cologne based Johannes Klingebiel – a guy deeply rooted into music, who studied jazz drums, is part of the rhythm section in a band called C.A.R., co-founded the label Ancient Future Now and was involved in giving birth to Cologne’s JackWho Club, where he holds a DJ residency while also taking care on booking matters. And after some previous appearances on Mule Musiq, Feines Tier and Like Records Johannes Klingebiel recently added his 2nd solo EP to his discography.
“Nightlife” is the title of this just mentioned EP, where Johannes Klingebiel spreads a sound over a course of 6 tracks that drifts through modern house music, darker shades of disco and indie-trancing moods. These are no tunes that seek for the powerful peak-time drive but generate tenderly thrilling atmospheres out of subtly waving harmonies and catchy, melodic synthie arrangements. Cosmically shaped and packed in cotton wool seems to be way things got crafted in here, slowed down in tempo and aesthetically with an embracing aura for dreamy floor moments. A sound that should be able to enrich multiple scenarios from late-night celebrations to sun-down happenings.
