Review: Jonas Palzer – In the Evening There Is Feeling

Released on LACKREC.

This is the 2nd solo EP of Berlin based producer Jonas Palzer and the first that see’s digital light. After a strong vinyl debut drop with raw, harmony fueled lo-fi house music on his co-run Portray Records in 2015, early 2016 has seen Jonas Palzer’s follow-up on his supplementary label homebase LACKREC.  These days “In The Evening There Is Feeling” on LACKREC also appears digitally and tends to take up the tales where his debut has closed with a bit of wistfulness and the wish for more. Again it’s all about house music with a high level of rawness and emotive, harmonic tension both merged into a well-dosed auditive entity. Jonas Palzer’s sound comes touching and likes to go through dense atmospheres built from deep and waving dub techno aesthetics, a shoegazer or dreampop-like wall of sound,  a classical Chicago rooted house rhythm section and some melodic and rhythmic pinches of a thing that should maybe just be called uniqueness. That’s rich dance music, hypnotic, contemplative, yet uplifting and worth to give it listen for all who like their house music raw and intensive!
