Review: Lemonade – Dancer on the Shore

Released on Alliance Upholstery

A disco package for summer use and beyond recently arrived in here folded in New York City. The label venture Alliance Upholstery presents a tender disco pick from the electronic indie and dance pop band Lemonade, that was originally released as digital single on Cascine in 2015. For the 2017 reissue of “Dancer on the Shore” the Brooklyn based band built a DJ friendly extended mix escorted by new remix versions from Jex Opolis and Whatever/Whatever.
The original extension of “Dancer on the Shore” shows a sweet, sweet late-night affair blending together 80’s synthie pop, electric boogie and a balearic feel. Here the boundaries of pop song and dance track melt away around 90bpm on easy cabrio ride grooves and steel drum melodies, when guest singer Dee Dee from the Dum Dum Girls adds her voice in a nonchalant way while still being touching. The three additional remix versions feature a dub and a vocal treat by Good Timin’s Jex Opolis and a midnight shift from NY producer duo Whatever/Whatever. All tend to add more pace and a guidepost into some more uplifting cosmic areas what makes this become a more than qualified recommendation for the disco diggers around. Disco candy!
